The year of 3D horror remakes 2012

Next year’s cinema looks set to be somewhat familiar yet super-scary, as 3D remakes of some horror classics will take centre stage on the big screen.

‘Halloween 3D’, from ‘Drive Angry’ director Patrick Lussier, is set for release near October 31. It will star Brad Dourif and Scout Taylor-Compton.

Meanwhile ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D’ will beat it to movie theatres with a release date of October 5, coming nine years after the previous reboot starring Jessica Biel and Eric Balfour.

John Luessenhop ('Takers') will direct. His movie, which will pick up directly after the first film, is set to ignore other sequels and recent reboots. So far only Bill Moseley (‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2’) has been cast.

Producer Carl Mazzocone told Shock Till You Drop that he’s enjoyed teaming up with Luessenhop for the new film:

“I'm excited to reconceive this iconic horror classic in a contemporary setting for a new generation of horror fans to enjoy.

“Both John Luessenhop and I intend to deliver a new chapter derived from Tobe Hooper's 1973 masterpiece with the goal of making it as horrifying as the original, in 3D.”

Looks like the villains on the silver screen next October will get frighteningly close!
