"WARM BODIES" AUGUST 10 2012

Starring: Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, John Malkovich, Dave Franco
Director: Jonathan Levine

Adaptation of the zombie romance novel which made allusions to Romeo and Juliet. A young zombie wanders through the devastation of the apocalypse, craving human brains to get high on their memories. One female brain makes him fall in love with the victim’s friend. He rescues her from his deadly zombie pack and their adventure together begins. The movie is produced by the studio behind Twilight. It’ll be heavy on voiceover as the lead zombie can only use grunts and simple syllables. Malkovich plays a villainous General intent on wiping out zombie-kind. Director Levine is pretty credible after The Wackness and 50/50. Can’t say I’m too excited about this though. Not convinced teenage girls will be either.

PROJECT DETAILS
Victor Salva once again spoke about the upcoming film, where he revealed that its been ready to shoot for over seven years now, saying: "It has come close several times to going before cameras, and I hope someone sees the wisdom in shooting this, the third and final Creeper tale, I still can't tell you what the fate of this third film will be. According to IMBD we are already filming - I guess they started without any of us!"
Salva was reportedly approached about turning this into a possible 3D movie, which he wasn't happy about: "3D would absolutely devastate the script - since the added 2 to 3 million in production costs would strip the screenplay down to a point where it would be smaller in scale than the original Jeepers Creepers. And then even that money dried up. I would say the film has been on and off the front burner at least nine times during the last few years."
According to writer/director Victor Salva this film ends in a cliffhanger that would lead into a potential 13-episode television series. Salva was quoted saying: "The third Jeepers film, and I can't tell you how it ends but it is a real show-stopper, I designed to kick off a thirteen episode season of a TV series, that explores The Creeper, his truck, and the massive 'Cathedral' like Creeper-lair they find in the third film."
Victor Salva gave a recent update on the project in an interview, saying: "Though I have been beating this drum for so long that people have started not to believe me, I am told they are very close to closing a financing deal for the third film in the trilogy. So I want to say yes, but let’s not jinx it by saying any more. My script for the film, which was written some time ago, sets up a TV series that features Poho County and The Creeper. The script has been ready to shoot for a while now." (2/09/11)
Originally thought to be titled Jeepers Creepers 3: The Creeper Walks Among Us.
MGM originally inteded this to go straight to DVD, but writer/director Victor Salva hopes it'll go theatrical like the previous two.
The film's old subtitle "Cathedral" plays an important role in the story.
Writer/director Victor Salva promises new surprises in the story and claims that this will be the biggest of the three films.
We will see the return of the infamous truck the Creeper drove in the first movie.
Gina Phillips returns as the character "Trish" from the first film.
Actor Ray Wise reprises his role as "Jack Taggart Sr." from the previous film.
Jonathan Breck returns as the "Creeper."
Victor Salva will once again write and direct.
Various characters from the previous two films may have roles or make cameo appearances.
It's said that we will be given more background on the "Creeper."
The film will serve as a prequel and sequel, starting off in the "Old West" and then switching to twenty years after the events of the previous film.
This film has been in talks since before the sequel was released back in '03.

Friday the 13th: Part 2 (2013)

Friday the 13th: 2013

The next installment of Friday The 13th is still in the writing stages, but rumors are abundant of the plot, with some of them being confirmed. Rumor has it, the next Friday The 13th movie in 2013 will be set in the winter, it will not be in 3D and they will improve on the kills. Could we see Jason venting his anger on snowboarders, and snowmobilers? Perhaps he unleashes his machete on hockey players and engages in deadly snowball fights?

We have also been told that the film may take another twist, and go the way of ‘found footage’. The studio may only switch the setting from a snowy background, but also turn it into a “foundfootage” film like “Paranormal Activity” and “The Blair Witch Project.”…. I hate this angle and hope they don’t do it, since this has been done to death. TO DEATH! Please don’t make the new Friday The 13th into a found footage film.. please!

One other version that is being rumoured .. .and we like the most.. suggests the movie could be a prequel. We don’t really know much about Jason, his mom and the background at Crystal Lake, and here is the time to tell the story.

A prequel that showed Jason’s mother being raped and beaten by her satanic husband. Jason’s mother was pregnant when the possessed fetus starts communicating with her, commanding her to kill her husband. He beat her badly which caused Jason to be malformed, which makes sense. Jason looks really fucked up when he leaps from the lake in the first film, his beatings in the womb may explain this angle. Mrs. Pamela Voorhees ends up giving birth to Jason near Crystal Lake. Voorhees is working at a nearby diner when a camp counselor hires her as a camp cook and

convinces her and Jason to move onto the camp grounds.

Jason gets picked on by the other children, he’s an outcast and a deformed one, making him an easy target. It all ends (or should I say begins) when one day the evil little bastards send him into the lake, telling him a girl wants to kiss him and he drowns. How he drowns is still a mystery, we believe he is pushed in the lake by the shitty kids, and they all watch him drown… thinking he’ll be ok.

Cool right? This plot makes way more sense than a found footage angle…

STAR TREK: NEMESIS and More on the Set of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

When Christopher Nolan first announced Bane as the villain of The Dark Knight Rises, many were nervous that whoever would take the role wouldn’t be able to come close to Heath Ledger‘s amazing performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight. However, last August on the set of The Dark Knight Rises, I watched Tom Hardy as Bane walk onto Heinz Field in Pittsburgh and completely own the place. It was during that hot and humid afternoon that I realized Bane was going to be a kick ass villain.

During a break between filming, I participated in a group interview with Hardy on set. While he was very guarded about revealing too many secrets, he did talk to us about the costume, Bane’s mask, if he has more respect for Darth Vader now, Bane’s physicality, whether he had any apprehension about following Heath Ledger‘s Joker, what he learned working on Star Trek: Nemesis, and more. Hit the jump to either read or listen to the interview.

As usual, I’m offering you two ways to get the interview: you can either click here for the audio, or the full transcript is below. The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20.

Question: I want to ask you a question that you couldn’t answer at Comic-Con–

Tom Hardy: I probably still can’t answer it. [Laughs]

Do you have an accent in this movie? What are you doing for the voice?

Hardy: I can’t say anything about him. I really can’t say anything.

What’s it like fighting Christian Bale? ‘Cause he’s the “Fighter” and you’re the “Warrior. ”

Hardy: Oh, yeah. I’ve only just realized! I’m always the last to know these things. I love working with Christian actually. I love working with everybody. I love working with Chris Nolan every time. Everybody in this cast is always lovely, constant professionals. There’s a distinct lack of ego when you work with Chris. It’s wonderful. So everybody plays to that environment which is very intimate and gentle. Does that make sense? So it doesn’t feel like such a big– overwhelmingly big—experience, which it is. I’ve played to a crowd of a thousand people, 1,400 I think. That’s The National. And then when we did Warrior, there were about 1,500 extras. And I think there’s about 11,000 people out there.

Can you tell us what it’s like to wear the costume?

Hardy: Hot. It’s very, very, very hot. Yeah. We’re all getting very hot. You think about the lads that are out in Afghanistan and Baghdad, and you think about the kit they have to wear, well then it’s actually not that bad, is it? But it is hot. It’s hard to breathe.

Can you talk a little bit about when you first put it on, and working with the costume department to get it right?

Hardy: You just put it on, you know? [Laughs] And then it’s on, and it’s hard to breathe. I can’t hear anyone, and no one can see me speak. So there you go. [Laughs] And the magic begins.

Do you find yourself having to speak bigger with your arms or your eyes, things like that?

Hardy: I can’t talk about magic.

Do you have more respect for Darth Vader now?

Hardy: [Laughs] I grew up with it, the original Star Wars. And Darth Vader is really cool, isn’t he? Really cool.

Well David Prowse had to wear that mask and couldn’t really see.

Hardy: Who wore the mask? It wasn’t the same person as when the first time they take it off?

No that’s a different guy. That’s Sebastian Shaw.

Hardy: He was some old man. Sad.

Were you familiar with the character Bane? Did you go back and read up on him?

Hardy: I had no immediate knowledge of the world of Batman at all. I’m quite incubated. I just keep myself to myself and my dog. He’s not with me anymore. And if something comes in, it’s always a neat experience. So it started when I first got the part.

There is a brilliance to Bane in addition to the physical. Are we going to see that this is a smart guy, equal to Batman in intellect?

Hardy: All I can think of is you’re calling me stupid. [Laughs] I kinda want to flip the table up and throw you through the window. That kinda answers your question doesn’t it?

From the pictures, Bane looks larger than life. But in all of Nolan’s films, he likes to ground it in reality with three-dimensional characters. How does he go about grounding this character Bane in reality?

Hardy: Well, if Nolan always grounds it in reality, then I’d have to follow suit.

The character is kind of a bad guy but a bad guy you like. Are you bringing that to Bane, or does Bane have to be completely bad?

Hardy: He’s a different character. Of course, I’m playing a different character than I’ve ever played before. But you know way too much of this story of me. So I can’t answer that.

Did you have any apprehension for being the guy that would follow Heath Ledger’s Joker?

Hardy: No, I don’t think absolutely. That would be putting myself in a competition with somebody who’s clearly brilliant. And it’s not a question of whose talent is greater or whose work is greater. It’s just trying to be the best that we can be, rather then trying to be better then somebody else. I’m not trying to be better than somebody else. What he did was amazing. That’s that. I’ve got a part I’ve got to play, and I want to play my part.

Can you tell us what fighting style your doing in this movie or any martial arts that you had to learn? Because I know you learned some of the MMA stuff as you prepped for Warrior. Did you learn anything new for Bane?

Hardy: I just watched Peanut over there. I’ve seen him wade through a few places.

Is it “Peter” or “Peanut? ”

Hardy: “Pea-nut. ” He doesn’t look like a peanut, does he?

Can you talk a little bit about other franchises you’ve worked on like Star Trek? Does the experience of adding to large franchises attract you at all?

Hardy: Working on Star Trek really opened me up. I was a very young boy. I think I had only been working nine months when I got Star Trek, and it was huge. It was very overwhelming. So that opened my eyes a bit at an early age, kind of how not be frightened when walking into a responsibility of something like villain in Batman, or a Hobbit, or whatever it is. These characters belong intrinsically to a large group of people who love them. And it’s a huge responsibility to deliver something important to them and to make the effort. So Star Trek was a stepping-stone towards that, this journey. I’m incredibly grateful to be playing the villain in a world which, if I really thought to hard about what I was doing, I would get very nervous about the size and the magnitude of the importance and responsibility of being a villain in the world of Batman.

Can you talk about what you’re filming today?

Hardy: I’m going to talk to 2,000 people. I’m a bit nervous. [laughs] Doing my warm-

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Starring: Benjamin Walker, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rufus Sewell, Anthony Mackie
Director: Timur Bekmambetov
Out: 22 June 2012

This sounds like a SNL skit, but it’s got a $69 million dollar budget behind it and is being played seriously. Adapted by Seth Grahame-Smith from his novel, this is directed by Bekmambetov (Wanted) and produced by Tim Burton. Relative unknown Walker is the young Lincoln, Winstead is his wife. It’s a 3D ‘re-imagining’ of Lincoln’s life that depicts the 16th U.S. president as an axe-throwing, highly accomplished killer of vampires, on a mission of revenge against them and their slave-owning protectors since they killed his mother. This version will probably become better known than the real history which says something about where society is headed

The Walking Dead:The Complete Second Season Blu-ray October 2nd 2012

The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a police officer in the old world. "Strangeland II" Possible?

From BD contributor Chris Lockett: In August of last year, Dee Snider broke the news via his Twitter that Strangeland ll: Disciple, the sequel to the 1998 cult classic Strangeland, was officially “Dead in the water”. Now, a little under a year later, BD is happy to bring you the exclusive news that Strangeland ll has officially risen from the dead! When we asked Mr. Snider to give us a final confirmation of the sequel’s demise, we were shocked and excited to find out that the film is in fact alive and well, and that Mr. Snider and his manager are currently “working on getting it financed.”

Now, keep in mind that a movie securing financing is not an easy prospect, so nothing is 100% as of yet. However, this gives hope that there is still great interest in seeing what further horrors are in the future of Captain Howdy.

Chris Lockett also managed to get Snider’s Top 5 Horror Films, which you can see below.

Dee Snider has just released an autobiography entitled “Shut Up And Give Me The Mic” as well as a new album of Broadway covers entitled Dee Does Broadway. Check below for his rendition of “Mack The Knife”.

Dee Snider’s Top 5 Horror Films:

1. The Exorcist
2. Dawn Of The Dead (original)
3. The Evil Dead
4. The Silence Of The Lambs
5. The Thing (Carpenter version)

Ravenous

During the Mexican-American War,Second Lieutenant Boyd fights in the United States Army(Boyd is obviously a former officer in the Army of the Republic of Texas, that merged with the US Army in 1846 - he still wears the Texas Army rank insignia of 2nd Lt.: one five pointed star on each shoulder strap). But in battle he fails to act while his unit is massacred. Playing dead, he is transported along with the other dead, with his commanding officer's blood dripping into his mouth, back to the Mexican headquarters. In a moment of sudden bravery, he captures the Mexican command. For his heroism Boyd is promoted to Captain, but his commanding officer realizes he is a coward and transfers him to the remote Fort Spencer in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

After Boyd joins the seven other inhabitants of Fort Spencer, a stranger named Colqhoun arrives and describes his wagon train becoming lost in the Sierra Nevadas and being reduced to cannibalism to avoid starvation. The party's guide, a Colonel Ives, had promised the party a shorter route to the Pacific Ocean but instead led them on a more circuitous route, and was then the one to lead their turn to cannibalism. The soldiers stationed at the fort see it as their duty to investigate and search for survivors, and so assemble a rescue party. Before they leave they are warned by their Native American scout, George, of the Wendigo myth; a story that a man consuming the flesh of his enemies takes their strength but becomes a demon cursed by a hunger for human flesh.

When they reach the cave where the party had taken refuge they realize that Colqhoun is Ives and has lured them into a trap. He had killed his five companions and sets about killing the soldiers from Fort Spencer one by one, including the commanding officer, Colonel Hart.

Boyd manages to escape the massacre by jumping off a cliff, breaking his leg in the process. He hides in a pit along with the body of a fellow soldier and eventually he eats some of the man's flesh to stay alive. When he finally limps back into the fort he is delirious and severely traumatized; none of the remaining soldiers believe his wild tale, and a second expedition finds no bodies or any trace of the man. A temporary commander is assigned to the fort and to Boyd's horror it turns out to be Colqhoun, now cleaned up and calling himself Colonel Ives. The others still refuse to believe that Ives is the killer, especially after he bears no sign of the wounds inflicted on him during the massacre.

Ives tells Boyd that he used to suffer from tuberculosis, but when a Native scout told him the Wendigo myth he "just had to try," murdering him, eating his flesh and in the process curing his maladies. Having murdered the expedition he led he now plans to use the fort as a base to do the same to other passing travelers; he compares the location of the fort, with the guaranteed supply of isolated migrants that it entails, to the notion of Manifest Destiny that draws them there.

Boyd is suspected of murder after another soldier mysteriously dies and is chained up; he watches helplessly while the last officer is murdered by an unexpected ally of Ives: Colonel Hart, back from the dead after the massacre.

Ives saved Hart by feeding him his own comrades, and now Hart is addicted, like Colqhoun, to human meat. Ives wounds Boyd and forces him to make a choice: eat or die. Eventually Boyd gives in and eats a stew made out of the last officer killed, and his wound heals. But rather than join the two men in their conspiracy to convert General Slauson (who assigned Boyd to Fort Spencer in the first place), he convinces Hart to free him so he can kill Ives. Hart does so, but asks Boyd to kill him first as he no longer wants to live as a cannibal. A battle between Boyd and Ives takes place at the climax, with both men wounding each other badly, yet they won't die easily due to their new recuperative powers. Finally, Boyd forces Ives onto a large bear trap and springs it, pinning them both together. Ives taunts Boyd by telling him he'll eat him as soon as he dies, but Ives expires first. Boyd refuses to save himself by eating Ives' body and dies on top of his adversary.

Martha, George's sister, stumbles upon the bodies of both Ives and Boyd, closes the door, and walks away. General Slauson arrives. While his aide looks around, the general tastes the stew that was left on the fire.by wikipedia

The year of 3D horror remakes 2012

Next year’s cinema looks set to be somewhat familiar yet super-scary, as 3D remakes of some horror classics will take centre stage on the big screen.

‘Halloween 3D’, from ‘Drive Angry’ director Patrick Lussier, is set for release near October 31. It will star Brad Dourif and Scout Taylor-Compton.

Meanwhile ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D’ will beat it to movie theatres with a release date of October 5, coming nine years after the previous reboot starring Jessica Biel and Eric Balfour.

John Luessenhop ('Takers') will direct. His movie, which will pick up directly after the first film, is set to ignore other sequels and recent reboots. So far only Bill Moseley (‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2’) has been cast.

Producer Carl Mazzocone told Shock Till You Drop that he’s enjoyed teaming up with Luessenhop for the new film:

“I'm excited to reconceive this iconic horror classic in a contemporary setting for a new generation of horror fans to enjoy.

“Both John Luessenhop and I intend to deliver a new chapter derived from Tobe Hooper's 1973 masterpiece with the goal of making it as horrifying as the original, in 3D.”

Looks like the villains on the silver screen next October will get frighteningly close!

Horror movies are about to get scarier

During the Sundance Film Festival in January, a midnight screening of V/H/S provoked the ultimate audience reaction of the horror movie genre.

Some scenes were so graphic and gory that a man ran from the theater, collapsed in the lobby and had a seizure. His girlfriend followed suit and vomited while he was being treated. An ambulance even had to be called.

Fortunately, the man and his girlfriend were fine after being treated by paramedics.

Unfortunately, horror movies are about to get even more nauseating thanks to the latest technology from Dolby Laboratories. But if you're a fan of seizure-inducing horror movies, consider it your lucky day.

'When someone is hiding in a basement and there are footsteps on the floorboards above, the system will actually play that audio from above in the theater.'

- Stuart Bowling, Dolby Laboratories

On Monday the company revealed its new sound system, the Dolby Atmos, capable of pumping out sound how we naturally hear it: from every direction. Unlike current sound systems that push sound from the sides of theaters, the Atmos system can not only deliver sound from above, it will be able to swirl sound around the theater.

Senior technical marketing manager for Dolby Laboratories, Stuart Bowling, said the new Atmos system is one of the biggest technological advances the company has made in the last 20 years.

"You can imagine watching a scary movie, and it’s a scene when someone is hiding in a basement and there are footsteps on the floorboards above," Bowling said, according to the New York Times. "The Atmos system will actually play that audio from above people in the theater."

The new system will feature 64 speaker feeds and will be in select theaters later this year.

"Dolby Atmos is our most significant innovation in years and represents the future for entertainment sound in cinema," President and Chief Executive Officer, Dolby Laboratories, Kevin Yeaman said in a press release. "We have leveraged our deep insights into how people hear and experience sound to empower filmmakers, studios, and exhibitors with new technology that transforms storytelling."by nic halverson
